Bio

Shiyi Wang holds B.S. degree from University of Missouri at Columbia and East China University of Science and Technology. She earned Ph.D. in chemical engineering under the guidance of Hendrik Heinz at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her dissertation work focused on investigating Pt interfacial phenomena at atomic level using molecular dynamics simulation. At LBL, she works on multi-scale continuum modeling of proton-exchange-membrane fuel cells, focusing on understanding the impact of different Pt interfaces as well as the microscopic-macroscopic structures in cathode catalyst layer on cell performance and durability. Her research interests include utilizing modeling techniques to understand the fundamental mechanisms of hydrogen technology applications and leveraging these insights to improve device design.
