Akshaykumar Narsinhbhai Desai

Dr. Akshaykumar N. Desai received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) in 2024. His Ph.D. work was funded by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) where he developed a comprehensive physics-based model of the low-temperature PEM fuel cells to analyze the liquid water dynamics and membrane’s mechanical response. He received his M.Tech in Thermal Engineering from Nirma University and B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked as a Research Fellow at IIT Bombay on the high temperature fuel cells. His research interest lies in the areas of fuel cells, electrolyzers, physics-based models of electrochemical systems, thermal management, and thermal energy storage. At LBNL, he will be working on the development of multiphysics model for the CO2 electrolyzers.
